A wedding dress made from balloons, a train from peacock feathers and an edible dress - just some of the examples of weird and whacky wedding dresses in this article. Call me boring, but I think I'd prefer something just a little more traditional.

This cake by Kara of A Cake to Remember in Richmond VA made me smile this week: The groom is apparently famous for crocheted pants! To read the full story and find out how Kara made the cake (and how long it took) check out her blog here.

I'm always in awe of the skill of wedding cake makers so this fantastic creation by Michael Burns of Special Days Cakes for his own wedding really caught my eye. With Half a ton of mixed fruit, 20 kilos of marzipan, 3,000 eggs and 20 bottles of rum, it's Britain's biggest wedding cake. Congratulations, Michael.

No, it's not some dreadful child bride story. (I see too many of these checking out the wedding news each week). It's a mock wedding held by a school in England as part of the class's Religious Education studies. Read more and see the photo here. (Read the comments section as well - just a bit of cynicism creeping in........)

Letting my 2 spoilt cats anywhere near my wedding would be a recipe for disaster, but it looks like including furry friends in the celebrations is a growing trend.
